And in all the books I read as a kid, there was always a frog on the lily pad. I have never in my life see a frog on a real lily pad.
I can only figure that since they are part of the same plant, the big leaves were called lily pads after the flower part. But then, I went to Louisiana public schools, so I could be wrong.
