Drive to Oakridge & Westfir Oregon

3-30-07
Well this morning we decided to head over to Oakridge, Nevada's brother lives over there in Westfir.We have been trying to get over there, this morning everyone left out of here by 9 am so decided to just go. His brother has had 2 strokes and seems to have a anerism that they can't operate on. Well the drive was nice till we got past Williamtte Pass ski resort. then the rains started, i knew i didn't like it over there this time of yr. A much differant climate than here in the high desert.
This is the drive down there, yup fog in the distance. YUK!
So we get to Westfir only a short drive from Oakridge, we didn't call his brother to say we were coming )-: anyway they weren't home, so much for a trip to visit, we were concerned that he may of gone to the hospital, but called his sister in law and said that he wasn't so all was ok.

So we left there and headed up the road, we saw this water fall Salt Creek Falls that we couldn't stop at becuase of the snow, but be sure that if your in the area stop and look at it also click on the link.

Another week has come and gone, Friday already, Spring break is over for Oregon anyway, not sure about the others, I think California starts theres around Easter not sure.
Slow and uneventful week.The weather was nice today tho, but suppose to change this weekend.
Maybe will go for a drive tomorrow, i feel house bound again, can't wait to go camping sometime. SOON i hope.

Anyone do any camping lately? Around here its still a bit cold, but have had people here this week that were tenting it. Gosh i don't think of that as being much fun.
Give me the comforts of my motorhome.

Well maybe tomorrow we can do something fun even if its just to take a drive.

Drive to Sisters Or

3-25-07
This morning i woke to rain, yuk! The sky was all gray and dreary looking. So we decided to get some cat food and get that over with. But by the time we got back home it had started to clear up, so we decided to take a drive to Sisters. Stopped to take a photo of the mountains in the distance.To your left is Broken top, and then the 3 sistersWe stopped to see the Elk but they were too far off in the distant so didn't get to see them. Last week someone cut the fence and a few got out.But they got them all rounded up and put back.Can't understand why people would do that?
So then we turned around and took another road to take the few in. Stopped at this place off the side of the road with creek, so had to stop and check it out.

cold. We ended up driving up
as far as we could when we finally ran into snow, there were a few rigs with snowmobiles up there and they had the road blocked so we couldn't go any further even if we wanted too. So we decided to head on back, on the way down the phone rang to let me know there had been a call, it was from Jaynee and Rich, they were at LaPine State Park, they had planned on being there the day before but didn't make it,so i figured that they were heading on home, so i was very surprised to hear from them. So i called them back and told them that we would stop and get a bite to eat and then head that way.
So stopped at Sisters and got hamburger and headed to La Pine State Park.

Here is Jaynee as we drove into there campsite I think she was on the computer doing some burning of a CD for the camphost.
We had a great visit with them. Richard and Nevada had worked together some 20 yrs back and havn't seen each for at least that long, So they did a lot of catching up. Strange how one finds each other thru the internet, Had she not joined my yahoo group, we probably wouldn't of found each other.

Dreaded day

Well Friday was a day for the big M, gosh i wonder if having your Boob smashed to no end is good for you?. After the report of Elizabeth Edwards i guess we all need to make sure we have it done.It has been 5 yrs since i have had it done. Bad girl. But you know how things are, time flips by.I have to tell ya about this lady that was there, while i was sitting there waiting to make sure they didn't have to do another x-ray, she looked at me and said, I have always wanted to ask someone that was bigger than me"does it hurt just as much for bigger boobs as it does for little ones like mine"? Well i really didn't know what to say to her accept, i guess no matter what size, it just flat hurts!!
So just a reminder to ya ladies make sure you have it done if its been awhile.Oh and i hear men should as well.

They don't do this too often.
So today being sat, and not too bad a day out, we decided to wash the Envoy, cleaned the inside and while i thought about it , i told Nevada that he needed to adjust the door as he has been putting it off, it has never been right from the time we bought it, which me always nagging to take it back before the warrenty was up, but nope he insisting that he can do without a problem. Well there was a problem. he took the bolt off too much and it fell in between the door. Not sure how to explain this one. So he ended up drilling a hole thinking he was going to be able to reach it that way. Nope can't do that. So here he is telling me that he isn't sure how he is going to fix it. door of course won't close so you can't drive it that way. Well about 3 hours later he finally found another bolt that he could use and got it fixed. A whole day wasted trying to fix a door that i am sure they could of fixed in no time flat had he only listened to me in the first place. Why are men so darn stubborn?
Well so much for getting the motorhome washed today, suppose to rain by tomorrow so guess it will have to wait another few days.
Oh i wish i could go camping.

Surveyor today

Oliver on top of Casey.Today the surveyor came out to mark were the property line is so it is more visiable to who ever is wanting to know. Not sure when they are doing an arial survey, but he said he was having that done as well.
The fellow that was interested in the property awhile back stopped back in, he owns a furniture store in town and really would love to have this for his store, but i guess he can't get enough money together. He has been here about 5 times now. Said he was going to talk to one his asian friends and see what they can come up with. He is a nice fellow and we would like to see him have it but, if he wants it bad enough he would of made an offer.
Sure got cold today, had some hale too.

Spring has sprung

3-17-07
Sat, another great day of lots of sunshine and warm temperature, it got over 70 today not sure how warm it got, but it was nice. Took a stroll around the yard, and went to my bulb bed, and to my surprise there stood my tall and beautiful yellow Daffodiles. Nice to see them out, the tulips are not too far behind them. Oh and the Crocus is out as well. Sure is sad tho that none of these last very long.

Didn't do much today, Nevada worked in the motor home trying to get the last drawer done, not a big drawer cause the sink is in the way but bigger than what was there, You know the kind that only the front opens with this tiny tray in it that you can't put nothing in. The other top drawer is a bit bigger but again the sink was in the way. at least this one was wider. It will hold some of my spices.. What i would really like to have is a spice rack i can put on the wall but there just isn't any room there.

Sign went up today on the property

Well today the sign went up. It is a much better sign then what the other realtor had up there, this one is at an angle so you can see it from both sides.Now hopefully all is good, also has it listed in the MLS site, they also put on there that the motel was open which was good idea.

Today i decided to shampoo the carpet, it sure was dirty, can't imagine having white carpet UGH !never again. Nevada is still working on the drawers in the motor home said he has had to redo most of them, so may be i will have more room in the drawers.
Princess didn't like having a wet carpet so she has been laying on anything that she can that doesn't have carpet.Here she is laying on the edge of my chair just sound asleep.

Well we finally did it, we listed again with a realtor on the sat the 10th, i sure hope that we get some response on it this time, this realtor seams to be so much better and more informed than the last one we had.
He seems to know what is going on around here anyway, he told us that Sonic was going in and a bank next door towards Empire, and of course that car was should be opening up soon, so that should give more incentive for this place, he wouldn't tell us what would be going in were the restuarant is, but somthing is.
So now we are at a standstill again as to what to do, do we start having garage sales to get rid of some stuff, or do we wait, Boy do we have a lot of stuff to get rid of, we pretty much know it isn't going to be sold as a motel, so all of the stuff in the rooms are going to have to be sold, so maybe we should wait till we have a good offer and then go from there and just do it all at one time.
Getting rid of things in the house is another story, Today Nevada decided to start working more in the motor home so that we know what room we will need and have, we took one of the chairs out, didn't use it anyway, we had a toy chest that we put in, it can be used for a seat and to store more things in. I figure if i can get what i need in the motor home now the rest can be gotten rid of.
Will put the desk computer in the bedroom on the desk, Nevada will build another shelf so that i can put the printer and the scanner on it. Right now he is working on the drawers in the kitchen as two of them were still half size, gosh they sure went cheapo in the kitchen. I have no place for nothing. So adding more to the drawers i can at least have more room for storage and one drawer just for spices.
Well if nothing else we are makeing more room for down the line even if we don't sell.

John Day Fossil Bed The Clarno Unit

We decided to take a drive to Condon Oregon, to check out a RV park that was for sale, and on the way we sort of took the wrong road, as it was a crooked and slow type of road, sure wouldn't want to take the motor home on it. However it was a nice drive.
So on the way we came to the John Day Fossil Bed Monument, we have never been here before, have been to the Painted hills. Anyway I wish we would of had more time as it would of been interesting to go on some of the trails they have. Maybe another time when we can go and take our time, Be sure if your in the area take a tour of it, also check out the header as it will open the web page for this site. great history.
Anyway we seen the RV park but its not for us, don't think the town gets too much business, and well just looks like too much work to make it look good, altho it does have the friendliest people in town, Population 750 sometimes. Basically a farming community.

Silver Lake Or.

Took a drive to Silver Lake, thought about a get together with some of the rver's in that area, and then doing a dinner at the Cowboy Dinner Tree
That is were you get a 26 to 30 oz steak or a whole chicken, Price is so reasonable. They serve you so much food before the steak and chicken that you end up taking the steak home and having several meals on that one steak. Please read the link to the restaurant as you need to know some things before going there.
Also wanted to get a photo of the Rv parking that they have across the road.Doesn't look all that good right now but much better in the spring.
We also took a drive to Silver Lake Marsh Campground but it was so snowed in that we couldn't get there, so no photo of that right now.

Finally got some snow

Well finally got some snow, about 4 inches, not much but just enough to make a mess in the parking lot, it warmed up some and of course it melts, then ends up freezing at night, so then the parking lot is icy, hate that part of snow.

Took Princess out to play in it, her first time, boy she was having a really good time, running and licking it.

What a crappy day this turned out to be, Nevada flushed the toilet, oh no back up, yukkkk0!!!!!
He did the plunger nothing, he did the snake nothing, not long enough , he took the toilet out, nothing, good time to keep it out and get new one, been going to do that anyway but been holding off cause of the sale of the place.
Anyway we found that it was plugged from room 2 on down here to the house, we have a vent in the laudry room were it was all backing up into , god what a mess that was. Ok so who put what in the toilet.
Since he didn't have a long enough snake we went to Home Depot picked one up for $30 bucks and also a new toilet, all together spent $117.00 came home, he worked on it some more, this has been going on since 9 am mind you. Me getting uptight, call the darn plumber. Him saying i don't want to pay a plumber. 3:30 he finally says call the plumber. Luckily it was before closing time. You know double time. Nice thing was he came right out, said it might be 3 hours, but he was right there. 20 minutes we are back in business. $95 bucks for the fix, not as bad as we figured. Wish i new what the plug up was.

Well it has been awhile since i have written in my blog, but then there really hasn't been anything much to write about.
The weather here in Bend has been mild,No snow down here, the mountain seems to be getting it good. which is good for the skiers. Would love to take a drive up there just to see how much is up there. Maybe this weekend we will take a drive and see if i can get some photos.

Princess went out to play in the yard, she loves to roll around in the leaves. Nevada was out there racking the other day and she had a ball.









She goes out there and rolls and ruts in the grass, man she can dig a hole fast, she loves to dig and then lay in it. The leaves she ends up digging a hole and crawling in the leaves.


She decided that she likes to lay on top of the coffee table, Precious got onto her earlier, so now she is really keeping her distance from her. Don't know why that cat hates this dog so much.
Here is Casey in the dog house playing hide and seek with her, they have so much fun together, Casey hides in the house, and when she comes by takes a swat at her and they will do this for the longest time. He is good with her. Oliver is good playing with her as well.

Here is Oliver on the floor with her and Smiley sitting there looking on. Altho the other day he took a good swat at her and now she watches him close too as she is not sure he won't hurt her again.

Today i gave her a bath, she liked it today at least was much better than the last time i bathed her.
We play a game after wards, with the towel, she gets reall angry when i try to dry her off so she grabs the towel and starts growling like the dickens. Cute but i know it isn't the right thing to do with her. She is also getting better about letting me bruch her. we are makeing progress. Not sure that she will ever potty outside tho.

Well that is it for tonight, nothing exciting.The wind is blowing pretty hard, they say that a storm is coming in maybe snow.

Leaving Quartzite

Left Q this morning after saying our good byes to Mary & Rich, Diane and Bill Armstrong came the night before and they parked across from us.We visited for a few hours over beer and wine. Sorry that we couldn't have spent more time with them, very nice couple. Hopefully will get to spend more time with them another time.Didn't get to see more folks that were there in Q but oh well the weather wasn't the greatest for sitting around a campfire. Maybe another time as well.

We are now parked at Peggy Sue's restaurant and truck stop, theres suppose to be a ghost town here but we havn't run across it. The restaurant is neat 50's setup and many many old photos and memorbilias from the old times. Elvis and Marylin Monroe etc. if you havn't stopped here on I-15 Ghost town Road Exit Yermo Ca. stop its worth seeing the restaurant at least. What to do a hundred miles

Free parking too. we are parked right behind the restaurant were the water is. hopefully the trucks will stay away from here, theres plenty of parking on the sides and back end along the freeway. It may be a bit noisy from the road noise but i guess its better than nothing. Listening to old time music that they have going on outside.
We had dinner here, food was good and plentiful, the waitress sucked so no tip for her, too involved with her boyfriend i think as she couldn't wait to get to him, forgot the soup the silver ware. Couldn't wait to take the order and run off again, i wanted to ask her questions about were the ghost town was but she was gone before i could open my mouth.

There is also a marine military here. Don't know what it was called tho.
Well i hope that we have a good nights sleep here.

Heading to Quartzite

Had a good nights sleep but sure was sore from yesterday. after that climb to the ruins, geesh that was really not worth the walk up there. But oh well we got our excersise in. And if we would of had to pay we wouldn't of gone up. Long cliimb up there.
Great sunrise this morning.

Headed out after cleaning the motor home, i think it was around 11:30 before we finally got going. So stopped at Goldfield mining town. another one of those touristy places were everything is a shop, not really into those kind of places but did manage to get some photos .
We then left there to head for Q but on the way we saw the sign for Yuma and decided to head that way instead. Ended up at Gila Bend, as your coming into town on the right side there is a rv park resort next to the travelodge, in the Shell gas station. RV parking with full hookups is $9 decided to spend the night there, heck we would of spent that just in gas alone to run the gen, altho the traffic is right there and the train is a few feet from there it is noisy, but like Nevada said tune it out. Didn't sleep all that bad once i got to sleep.
No wifi tho.... going to have a lot of mail to sort thru. going thru it. seems like a lot of trucks use this rt tho. .
GOing to get breakfast and then head on out hopefully will get on the internet tonight.

Well we have been in Q for 3 days now, bring your long johns when coming cause it is cold and windy the wind is the worst when your out and about, yesterday was really bad. Decided that today we go looking for another source of heat, it has been so cold that the heater at low is drawing more juice and by 3 am no battery.Not sure what we will get but it has to be something, can't get no sleep as the cats are cold too and they want warmth so either they cuddle up together at me feet were i can't move or they try to get under the covers.

We are staying at Laposa West we decided for $30 for 2 weeks and being able to dump and get water was well worth it comes out to about $2.50 a day, they won't let ya dump if your not paid, so going into town you have to pay to dump and get water so rather than the hassle of driving this rig in town its better out here.

they have rvlongon 1 that you can get but the strength is very low here at the site, i get 2 bars so might try and sign up for it later, going to take the lap top into town today and see if i can get a better signal. The sun is shining but oh so cold......

Took Princess in for her last shot, the vet is only open from 9 am to 12. he is one smart cookie, he has them all lined up, when we got there. He had 4 people in front of us and then more kept coming in , i think most of them were all snow birds. The darn office was so cold that the gal at the counter had to take the heater on the desk so that she could heat up the pens so they would write.. Vet looked at her papers and said well i will give her the shot but i add one other shot to it, can't remember what he said it was, i asked what it was for, don't remember accept his answer was you need it down here. I said wonder how come she didn't mention it and he said well maybe in your part of the country you don't need it, i said well then why do i need her to have it then, cause there is a series of 2, his answer was becuase your here right now.! Well ok i wasn't going to argue with him, he didn't take her temp or weight, nothing just the shots, and he wasn't all that nice about poking her either she really let out a yelp. didn't do that with the other vet. Well then he tried to pass it off and give her a treat and say what a good doggie she was, well she wasn't having any of it. LOL. Don't think she will like going to a vet again.

Boy the weather has not gotten any better the last few days, Still cold. we went into town on Sunday and found a catalytic heater, i guess that is what this is, $160 for 10,000 BTU's no thermostate as Nevada said we can regulate it ourselves, yeh right.! went over to the pit stop and got a regulator and a propane tank. brought it home and got it hooked up, surely thinking that we were going to be keeping really warm... HAHAHA!!!!! we also blocked the windows with sheets and the front cab with more blankets so that the cold wouldn't come thru. Sat here last night at 72degrees thinking yep its going to be real warm. Actually it was warm TOO warm to sleep however. so turned it off accept the pilot light. I woke up about 2 am freezing my tooch off. so turned it back on but never really did get warm till i had to turn the furnace back on and help get it warmed up in here again.

Decided this morning to go into town and get the heating insulation for the windows, man they windows let out a lot of the heat.
Turned out to be a fairly nice day today. Picked up a dash cover for the motor home $36.95 they made it right there. Hope it fits. Went home and tried the insultaion on the windows, which we had to cut, right in the middle of doing that Mary called and said they were here. so went and met them at the gate, brought her over here so she can see our site, and to see if they can park it . well they are not too far from us.
Anyway sure hope that we can figure this heat and cold out tonight and sleep better.

Apache Trail

Well we ended up driving the Apache Trail in the motor home. YES you can do it if your no longer than 40 ft, but beaware the roads are very narrow and steep, and curvy and i mean curvy. ours is a 30 ft, was it scary at times YES you bet it was, only good thing was there was not much traffic. We decided to do the entire trail, took us 7 hours with stops.
We first stopped at Tortilla Flats, neat place. all those bills on the walls. even the ice cream place was covered in dollar bills. We ate breakfast there Ham & Cheese omlet not the best i have had but ok. We sat by the window were all the birds are. The lady came out and fed them, man talk about birds and Quials.Nice and fat they are.
This place is covered in $1 bills, the lady said that last count was around $92,000 there is also a ice cream bar next door that is also covered in bills, not sure if that was included or not. Fire took the first building i think she said in 1960 which was a whole lot more money than this.
by the time we were done there must of been 50 people show up, don't kow if they all went on the trail farther up or not. had a few pass us on the road. The view was just spectacular. I am glad that we went and took the motor home and not bother with the car again issue, figured that another day would of been wasted. I had called Advantage and they didn't have anything till 11 and it was a midsize car of $59 well good excuse that was.. also wouldn't come to the campground to pick us up. Poop on them.

Here is some of the rock formations that we went thru, and if you notice the yellow arrow sign yes that is a really sharp curve. and this was on a dirt road, which by the way was not all that bad, just take it slow. and the curves were even worse than this one.

And yes there is a campground you can park at and also a boat ride But i think i have this out of order this comes after Tortilla Flats if i am remembering right. Getting late now.

We then continued to the cliff dwellings. Not worth the trip for this one. what a climb. Coming down was even worse for me as i don't like hights to begin with and no rails. We took Princess up there and had to carry her back down, cause i was afraid that she would somehow get out of her leash and end up going over the edge.

Cats didn't get sick which really surprised me with all the twists and turns we had to take. But it was slow going.
Tomorrow we will go to Goldfield Ghost town just down the road and then head out and working our way back to Q might decide to stop at Ken and Bonnies again but not sure.

It was warm last night so am wondering if it will be that way tonight again. didn't turn the heat on till this morning.
