Replanting monument
Today I would like to share some photos of Mt. St.Helens with you all. As you all probably heard about the eruption of this mountain on May 18th 1980. The link on the header will take you to the site of before and after, If you want to read about it and see photos.
But these I took about 4 yrs ago in the early spring. And have always wanted to go back in the later part of the spring to see all the beautiful flowers that are now growing there, But unfortunately have not been able too.
I just am sorry that I didn't have a better camera, but next time we go I will. Hope that you enjoy these.
The Elk have come back and some of the other wildlife
This is the result of the replanting of the forest

I went on a field trip there in the sixth grade. I remember it being a beautiful place. You have very nice pictures of it!
I made my first trip there in 2004 in the spring. I went to the viewing center 00 think ti was called Johnston Ridge. None of my pictures look like yours and I don't have the statue either. Maybe you went to a different side?
Enjoyed your photos very much.
These are some great photos. they tell the story of the aftermath. I hope you have a wonderful week!
Wow, such an interesting post. Beautiful pictures.
Amazing collection of photos where we can see the beauty of wilderness.
theses r awesome shots..both the weekend snapshot and the mt helen one!
What fantastic views! At first glance I thought the statue was Johnny Appleseed.
Oh my word!! I had no idea the area was Still so barren....great pictures Lilli!
Fascinating stuff! I saw the mountain before landing in Seattle once, but I was told that you couldn't see it from the city after it blew its top. I have a couple of beauties of Mount Rainier, but I was told that was dead. Let us hope so for Seattle!
fantastic images, excellent, what a beautiful tour.
Thank you for let me travel with you in your photos, well done.

My mother in law lived in Tillamook, Or. My step son has a can full of Helen's volcanic dust. Great pics.
It seems so strange to have a statue in the middle of the mountain. Thanks for sharing your photos.
As for the toy store grand opening, I did take tons more photos, but too many to post. :)

Hi There, These are great weekend snapshots. I lived in Washington State for several years but I missed a trip to Mt. St. Helen. Thank you for sharing this.
WOW.. I'm off to follow that link now...
Yes I have heard about that, I searched it in Google Earth and it is very impressive. Great pictures.
Great photo, Lilli. I loved reading the legend of the two brothers and how Mt. St. Helens came to be. Thanks!
what a fascinating series of pix, so glad you shared them! I followed the story avidly through national Geographic, because I have a passion for volcanoes and glaciers.... that one of the snow covered crater is amazing, and the fact that it is still so barren gives an idea of how devastating it was at the time. Hope you do make it back sometime, I want to see more!!
