This weekend is the Yearly Horse drawn Auction & Swap Meet at the Sister's Rodeo Fairgrounds
For yrs i have people that come and stay here at the motel, but i have never gone, so I decided it was a good time to catch some great stuff from the old days. So I will be posting some old and unusual rigs and equipment. Cost $5 to park,I had no intention of buying anything just taking photos, oh well what we won't do to take a photo right?

Sitting on what looks to be a circa 1870 fifth-wheel running gear a beautiful Gypsy-style Circus Cage Wagon with complete and operable cage.Though it looks to be over a 130 yrs old, the gear is solid. Also looks to be original paint. This wagon belonged for a time to Twentieth Century Fox and was used in the movies Escape from Planet of the Apes.

wow, that is a piece of history! although I hate the mere idea of a cage...
Nice to get away from work once in awhile. I imagine you will see lots of interesting things for sale here.
Hi Lilli,
A very interesting post. It should be a good weekend with plenty of photo opportunities.
Hi Lilli & Nevada. Sorry for this short visit, but I just wanted to say thanks for your comments on my blog. This weekend, I’m going to take a musical break, and next week I’ll make a very short trip, crossing South Atlantic. I’ll try to catch up with your posts as soon as possible. Meanwhile, leave you with some chocolate champagne truffles at Blogtrotter.
Have a lovely weekend and an excellent week!

That's a pretty cool little piece of history right there. Not only used for its purpose, but also a movie piece? Neat!
I look forward to more pictures from this place. Thanks for suffering the $5 to get us some great shots!
My DH loved the movie. It would be kind of neat walking around and seeing what kind of stuff they have... I'm glad you were able to get out a bit... good for you!
I'm glad you spent the five bucks and got these great pictures! I think I can remember seeing the movie with the apes in that last wagon.
Great shots. I am noticing some WHEELS on peoples blogs now. On my blog today I posted the hay rake in the pasture behind the fence. It was not a close up picture so I did not put it as a WHEELS picture in PICTURE THIS.
First Dot had us looking up at the sky and now she has us looking for wheels. What will that woman come up with next? LOL
Very interesting! I never saw the movie. Makes me wonder about it now.
I love these!! Pretty old items!! Have fun today!!hughugs
I agree with Tom. I think I remember this too!! I do love the sights of Sisters, pines, cowboy hats, cowboy butts. :) An added attraction such a a Circus Cage Wagon makes it all the better. Have a great weekend, I got that program, Picasa2 downloaded, now to study it. Thanks for the advice.
