Just wanted to share some more photos of the baby kittens which are really starting to grow. I do want to give a warning, We bought this Cage that is for small animals and cats, Never thinking much about it till we had the problem the other night. Momma cat got on top of the cage and even tho the wires seem to be small enough, she got her back leg caught in the wires, well let me tell ya, the scream was on and we were trying to help her get her foot out,She got a hold of me and bit my arm, tore my shirt to threads, and managed to bite and scratch me in my breast before hubby could release her, i have to say that between the two of us it took some doing to get her foot out of the bars. We now have secured the top of the cage with a heavy rug that we have bungeed down so it can't move. Thank goodness that we were home at the time. No major injury to her thank goodness, she was limping a bit but seems to be fine now, can't say much for me and the bites however, still very sore.

I must explain that the reason for the cage is because i didn't want the babies running all over the house with the other cats, as i am not sure what some of them might do, i keep the door to the spare room open with the cage blocking it so they have the room to play around in.

Here is Tom Tom laying down with a couple of them, he has become quiet the babysitter for these babies,he plays with them and washes them, he is attentive to there needs, altho i have to keep an eye on him as he has a tendencies to get a bit rough, but has never hurt them. Amazing how he taken to them. The other cats still hiss at the babies and don't seem to want much to do with them.
Here is momma cat feeding one of the babies that look like her. YUM YUM She says.
Now they are getting big enough were they need to find some nice family that wants a kitty, so i got on Craig's list to post them, But there is so much stuff on there about giving kittens away, the horror stories that i never thought about. One person wrote that there are people out there that are taking kittens and feeding them to there snakes. Another was a lady that has a shelter and writes about all the things that go on in a shelter, saying if they are not adopted out within 72 hours most will be put to sleep and goes into detail about that.
So now i am at a stand still becuase i never thought about this sort of thing happening. So what shall i do? I can't keep them. Have any of you any good suggestions?

Great photos and I hope that you will find loving homes for all the cats. I wouldn't post them on Craigslist, there are too many people there who just want a cheap pet and don't think about the commitment. Try cat rescues, they may be able to help or even provide you with a temporary home for the kittens. Here's a website that lists shelters in Oregon:
http://muttcats.com/shelters/oregon.htm
and when you google "cat rescue Oregon", you'll find a lot more. Good luck!

We had a litter of four kittens and when they were a couple of weeks we decided to look for families for them. They were inoculated. Every new owner was willing to pay for the inoculation and we gave a can of catfood. We also asked them to keep us informed. Unfortunately three of them were hit by cars.

I have heard those stories as well ~ it's horrifying!

Good luck finding good homes for those sweet little babies.

I just recently advertised and offered a toy, and food with kind of a pkg deal. They were adopted immediately because the shelters now charge too much - or you can offer a coupon towards spay or neuter- that's money though ..sandy The rest is simply to say . I gave you a healthy start now I trust you to the world to do the same..

You know how I feel and I wish I was able to help you out. I agree with the last lady, most people like to have a pet but cannot afford to pay what the shelters are asking. For the money the spend to get the animal they could have it fixed. I hope you find a solution and was happy to hear Mother was not hurt. Take care of yourself and make sure the bite and scracthes do not get infected. Peace

They certainly are getting big.
I do hope you find some good homes. You yourself were so kind to take them in and see that they were ok.
I hope some of the suggestions left will work for you.
I love how TomTom has taken to them - so sweet.

My mom-in-law has a crate for her cats ... she calls it kitty jail. Ha!

Thanks for stopping by :)

I would also ask for references from anyone who wants a kitten

the shelters are all overwhelmed at the moment due to the economy - the most helpless are always the ones to suffer the most - I volunteer so I know

Is the Mom going to be fixed so there's no more kittens after this?

I do hope you can house them with someone repsonsible. In this economic climate pets are one of the first things to go. Jedediah seems to have right idea. You have given them at least a good start.

There are adorable, I really really hope they will find good home and not get put to sleep....

I know the shelters around here are overwhelmed.

Like others, I wouldn't use Craigslist as I too have heard horror stories.

Maybe, as someone else suggested, contacting one of the cat rescue places, they may give you some suggestions.

Good luck and they are cute!!

I agree with bringing them to cat rescue. I have seen some ads where owners ask for money so it will attract hopefully serious buyers.

I don't know! I think the only way to go is friends and friends of friends, etc...At least, that way you have some sort of reference. I can't imagine going any anonymous route.

As silly as it may seem, though, books and cats do go together. If you have to go a more impersonal way, perhaps a local bookstore would allow you to advertise or even sit outside one weekend with the kitties (as long as they're "free to a good home").

Hi Lilli! New Year, Old Troubles... No, I’m not talking about the frosty weather, just the office... Another hectic week! ;)
Beautiful pictures! It's amazing to see your blog on the full size of my new monitor; would love to manage to make the same for mine... ;))

Thanks for your comments at Blogtrotter, now with new posts on Delhi! Enjoy and have a great week!

Oh man, if I could take them, I would! They are so sweet and adorable, and you are a wonderful person for taking them in. I wish I could do something to help.

Oh Lilli! I'm so sorry about your injuries! I know how agitated a frantic cat can be. I have one of my own that isn't feeling well and she just wants to be left alone. I tried petting her and got a good scratch for my efforts. I've heard the same kinds of horror stories about giving away kitties. What about posting a notice at your local vet's office? Most people that see it would be kind hearted. Or, ask your vet office personnel for advice. Good luck!
