Camera Critters

Rock Chuck Also known as Yellow-bellied Marmot

I had to look this up and was surprised it was called that. Sort of interesting to read. Can't say i like them, when we first moved here and seen one i thought they were sort of cute specially the babies, Till one morning i awoke to not a carrot top in my garden, and my favorite plant was no more. Now they have become a real pain, poop everywhere, they will get into the hood of your car and chew on wires and what else they can get into. Nope can't say i like them much anymore.
Be sure to click on photos for better viewing Here is a baby sitting so still while i take his photo
We had to put this block over there hole so that no one will go out and step in there hole. As much as we don't like them we still don't have the heart to kill them, altho we think the cable company has put out poison .

Last weekend i was looking out the window and looky here, a whole bunch of Quails were under son's truck

And then i can't close without a couple of photos of my furry kids, Casey the cat and Princess

Casey and her get along very well they have a good understanding with each other that they established when Princess first came to us at 8 weeks old. If you havn't read my other blog about my furry kids, Casey is my thumb sucker when he is tired he wants to suck on my thumb, and knead my neck. So when Princess came home and also joined us on the bed, Casey took second spot for a few days and then he had enough one night, when he wanted mom's attention, and Princess got in the way again. He lifted his paw and wacked her on the head and looked at her and said "enough is enough its my turn and i was here first"
From that time on they have been buds ever since.

This is a great post! I'm sorry those Rock Chucks are causing you so many problems, but they are kind of cute. hehe. Sounds like the kind of trouble the groundhogs cause for farmers in the fields.

That is SO cool that all those quail were under the truck!

and that last photo... oh that is absolutely precious beyond words! I LOVE it!

Great post. Here in the south, everyone calls them 'groundhogs'. I know they can be destructive to gardens!

Those are really nice photos, especially that last one. They are -so- cute! :)

All your critters are cute! I saw my first ground hog last week.
I've never heard of marion berries but they sound delicious. I think they just grow in your area

Those things are kinda cute. It is too bad they are so destructive. You can't really enjoy seeing them. The quail under the truck was an great sight!

Princess was such a cutie as usual. I just love looking at pictures of her, she is so pretty. I had never heard of a chocolate pom till I saw princess. Casey is a sweet baby! I wish my cats would cuddle up to Rusty like that.

That last picture of Casey and Princess is Priceless.
What a wonderful surprise to look out your window to see those quail.
Most wildlife are cute but can be destuctive. Case in point our bushy tail rats(squirrels) and large hoove rats(white tail deer)Also, the raccoons that come right up on the back porch and destroy the hummingbird feeders. We now take the feeder in each night.
I loved the Apple Blosson Room and I am a new comer to your blog.
Peace

It is funny the relationships that the pets create. Without our interference they find their place with each other.

I didn't know marmots were such pests--they look closely related to groundhogs and they can sure be pests in the garden or in a cemetary.

Love the pictures and story of your dog and cat.

they are adorable! i don't blame you for being upset, but i would be real worried about poison. that could poison other creatures, too. hope they know what they are doing. The photo of your dog and cat together is just adorable.

Those Rock Chucks sound like a nuisance. We have plenty of bunnies around here that will eat whatever they can get to. I have to put a fence around the garden.

Your Casey and Princess are just adorable!

A rodent is a rodent no matter the name, squirrel, marmot, rock chuck, rat etc. Cute ones though and great capture of the quail!

Lots of wild animals are cute but not all good to have around. . . we used to love feeding these creatures that swam in the water at Burnt Bridge Creek but would come on land to get the bread crumbs we threw there because we missed the aim of the river from the bridge. lol Anyway, now there is a sign not to feed them because they are intrusive animals and that they have removed what was there. The city claims they are not native to Vancouver. I wish I could think of what they are called. Think it starts with a M. . . . I miss seeing them.

Anyway, also wanted to say how cute your two pets are in that last photo! I don't have pets but those sure are "snugglebunnies!"

I can't say as I blame you for not being able to kill the rock chucks. I don't think I could either, but they do make for interesting photos.

Had a Rock Chuck decide that living under our shed surrounded by nice and tasty Irises and other flowers would be a nice life...until his butt met with a BB from my varmit repeller. He moved out during the night.

Your furry kids are just the cutest, Lilli! How destructive those marmots can be...I don't think I would like them either if they lived in PA.
